It is a modern method of transportation of products needing a lower temperature for their storage during their transport. It consists of a car with a properly installed refrigeration system that helps in maintaining the lower temperature inside the car and thereby preventing the products from getting damaged. 
History
The idea of refrigerated Technology dates back to the 18th century. At that time, as the ideas were not that wide, ice and salt were used as a coolant to provide low temperature during transportation.
As this method of using ice and salt was not that effective and led to a loss in product quality, improvised methods were adopted in the 19th century as proper refrigerated transportation services were introduced for use.
Working Components of Refrigerated Transportation Service
The refrigerated transportation service is a highly complex and closed system. Its working depends upon the working of its various other components. The major components of refrigerated transportation are -

  • Compressor-

It is a small device that plays a major role in liquefaction of gas that is important for heat release. It draws gases from the surrounding medium and compresses it. After compression, the gases liquefy, thereby releasing heat to the compressor. 

  • Condenser-

As compressor cannot completely cool down the liquid, hence the liquid passes through the condenser. The heat is continuously exchanged between the liquid and the condenser, which ultimately results in cooling down of the liquid.

  • Expansion Valve-

The cooled down liquid is passed to the expansion valve. Now, this liquid expands inside the expansion valve by absorbing heat from the surrounding.

  • Evaporator-

It involves taking heat from the gases to cool them.
This entire process keeps on repeating until the appropriate temperature suitable for products is reached.
The functioning of refrigerator transportation is based on ‘ref cycle.'  The major components of ref cycle involve operator, compressor, condenser, and expansion valve.  All these components work in a highly coordinated manner to perform the process of efficient cooling. 
A working fluid referred to as refrigerant is used for the temperature adjustments within the refrigerator. This passes from different components to acquire the required temperature.
